Electrical Lab 1
Electrical Lab 2

The Electrical Laboratory at NTPC NETRA provides high-end scientific and technical support to NTPC stations and joint ventures in the areas of condition monitoring, life assessment, and failure analysis of electrical equipment. The laboratory is equipped with advanced diagnostic facilities such as Online Partial Discharge Measurement Systems for transformers, Sweep Frequency Response Analyzer (SFRA), Corona Detection Camera, and Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS), enabling early detection of potential faults and ensuring reliable and continuous operation of power plant assets. The team has developed strong expertise in transformer condition monitoring, with timely analysis and recommendations helping to prevent equipment failures and avoid forced outages. The laboratory has also made significant contributions to national and international journals and conferences and works closely with Corporate OS for consultancy, inspection, and failure analysis at NTPC stations. To further enhance its capabilities, the laboratory is acquiring advanced instruments for condition monitoring of GIS, switchyard systems, and generators, and is establishing an Insulation Research Facility to study ageing characteristics of solid and liquid insulating materials for long-term asset reliability.
